Sagittarius - The Archer

Those born between November 22nd - December 21st

Sagittarius, the ninth Sign of the Zodiac, is the home of the wanderers of the Zodiac. It's not a mindless ramble for these folks, either. Sagittarians are truth-seekers, and the best way for them to do this is to hit the road, talk to others and get some answers. Knowledge is key to these folks, since it fuels their broad-minded approach to life. The Sagittarian-born are keenly interested in philosophy and religion, and they find that these disciplines aid their internal quest. At the end of the day, what Sagittarians want most is to know the meaning of life, and if they accomplish this while feeling free and easy, all the better.

It's the Archer which represents Sagittarians, although in this case it's a Centaur (half man, half beast) which is flinging the arrows. Centaurs were the intellectuals of ancient Roman mythology, and Sagittarians are quick to consider themselves their modern-day counterparts. Those born under this Sign are clear thinkers and choose to look at the big picture most of the time. They also like it when others agree with their well-thought-out point of view. The alternative to this, for better or for worse, is a Sag who can become argumentative and blunt. That's not to say that these folks are intransigent -- Archers will listen to what others have to say, in keeping with the Mutable Quality assigned to this Sign. Indeed, Sagittarians are enthusiastic consumers of information (and enthusiastic in general), the better to get the answers they need. It's also a good idea to give Sags lots of room to explore their world. Once these folks start to feel hemmed in, they'll become impatient and difficult.

This freedom-loving individual is jovial and good-humored. Sometimes they can even be practical jokers. They need to consider that the fun they get out of the practical joke though is sometimes not as funny as thought when it affects the one whom the joke is being played.

Sagittarians are honest and hardworking but they need a good challenge to keep them interested. Intelligence is something they value in others because they are generally loaded with it themselves. Playing checkers and then thinking of the beginnings of mankind is something that suits their philosophical tastes. And Sagg people sometimes like change for change sake. They love open spaces and need this in their office or need to work outdoors. Sagg people cannot stand to be closed in. These people are not detail-oriented but they need challenge to keep them from becoming bored.
Sagittarians are gregarious and enthusiastic, and espouse high principles such as universal love and world peace. Happy-go-lucky, honest, cheerful and optimistic, at times Sagittarians are restless, careless and extravagant. Sagittarians' tolerance towards others allows them to work well with all people, and accept them for what they are. Sagittarians are extroverted, and their bluntness and impatience can unknowingly hurt others who are more sensitive. Sagittarians are fond of sports, the outdoors and travel. "Don't fence me in" is their motto. Sagittarians are socially naive and blissfully unaware of real human differences.

Sagittarians are passionate, sincere and straightforward in love, normally conventional and in control of their sexual natures. Yet if let down, they may easily allow their failure to poison their whole life or they may get revenge on the opposite sex by becoming promiscuous. If their  marriage is successful, they will be a faithful spouse and indulgent parent, but their restlessness will inspire them to use even the most satisfying relationship as a base from which to set out their travels. Sagittarians need to feel free and are often faced with the choice of allowing their career to take over their life at the expense of the love of their spouse and family. In other personal relationships you are reliable, seldom betraying any trust given to you. However, you can be impulsively angry and you know how to be outspoken and exactly what expressions will hurt your enemy most. On the other hand you are generous in forgiving offenses and are responsible when looking after the elderly in the family.

Sagittarians relate to people as if others were part of themselves; they tend to merge and melt into them. They need and want to do everything with everybody, and are open and friendly as a puppy. Sagittarians have a keen prophetic and inspirational sense; they are always searching, restless and often lack continuity. Their sense impressions are clear and more accurate than others; thus their judgment is acute. But they should learn to think before they speak. A Sagittarian's mind resents confusion and will reject anything irrelevant to the issue at hand. When Sagittarians do focus, it is on one thing only, to the point of seeming to have a one-track mind. Unsettled in both mind and body, Sagittarians need activity and physical exercise. Sagittarians have a need to roam and are fond of sports, both as a participant and an observer. They have strong psychic and occult tendencies, and are more sensitive than their free and breezy attitude reveals. Sagittarians are a natural teachers or preachers, with a talent for religion, philosophy, poetry and music. Sagittarians like to help others. They have a high degree of independence, a need for freedom and a tendency to be somewhat offhand. They must counteract carelessness and recklessness with tact and thoughtfulness.

Sagittarians have high principles and a very modern outlook. Usually skilled, they can be detached and intellectual. This position often gives more thought than action. Sagittarians are a good leaders who can meet challenges with serenity and poise. Sagittarians seldom work well unless they are in charge, and are contemptuous of tradition unless it is substantiated with logic. Sagittarians are experimental and innovative sexually, but Sagittarians may lack the personal touch. With challenging aspects, Sagittarians can be quite revolutionary and feel a need to overthrow the established order.

Career paths for them might be found in publishing, the law, teaching or religion. Ever the optimist, Sagg people see hope in everything they do. This trait can also make them a little careless because they believe the best will always befall them.
