As the fifth sign of the zodiac, Leo
represents the fifth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the
universe. Here, the dominant need is to develop man's creative urge.
Creativity is not entirely an emotional urge in Leo, it is also an
expression of ego. The mind and heart are united in Leo to represent man's
ultimate individuality. They are not easily daunted, and will persist
through the most formidable of circumstances. They tend to be stubborn, and
will hold onto a belief, or stick to a course of action through thick or
thin. Because of their positive nature, they tend to expect the best, and
when things don't turn out as they had expected, they react immediately and
badly. Although, they may suffer from short bouts of depression when life
doesn't meet their expectations, they bounce back quickly and move on with
their normal cheerful and demonstrative nature. Leos walks forward always,
head held proudly and face turned towards the sun.
When their egos are turned inward, Leos become self-centered and tyrannical.
Seeking to gain attention (consciously or subconsciously), they love to play
the hero. At times this gesture is indeed noble, but feeling they already
know what is best, they often neglect to learn what assistance is actually
wanted and their misguided generosity becomes worthless to those they sought
to help. Imaginative Leos envision grandiose schemes and many of them
possess the talent to turn their ideas into reality.
Leos are natural leaders and chiefs. In reality the supervising position is
what the majority of people born under the sign of Lion aspires to. They are
really intelligent and magnetic people. That fact attracts others, but they
should not try to dominate everyone. Lion frequently called "The sign of the
kings" according to his intelligence and graceful manners. Their
astrological symbol " Lion" is considered to be the king of animals. But, as
well as all governors, that people should learn to wear the crown modestly.
They should remember their large sin - vanity.
THE Zodiacal Sign of Leo commences on July 21st, but for seven days it does
not come into its full power until on or about July 28th. From this date
onwards it is in full strength until August 20th and is then for seven days
gradually losing its strength on account of becoming overlapped by the
"cusp" of the incoming sign Virgo.
All Zodiac Signs governed by the Elements of Fire and Air are considered to
be Masculine in nature. Thus, Leo (ruled by fire) is considered Masculine
(as are Aries, Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius). Masculine signs are
traditionally conceived as being more active and less receptive than their
Feminine counterparts which are ruled by the Elements of Earth and Water
(the Zodiac Signs of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces).
Masculine Signs focus primarily on spirituality and activity...both in the
physical sense and mental sense. Masculine Signs are said to be diurnal or
day-oriented. Therefore the term "masculine" should be viewed in the same
light as the Yang (or bright) Polarity of the Tao.
Represntatives of fire signs are happy, lucky people. They are usually lucky
in money matters, often having money given to them from unthought-of
sources; but they crave love above all, and this is the one thing they
seldom get. Leo's are stable. They don't like much change. Status quo suits
them fine. They will stick to things and get them done. The Fire sign in
these signs is enthusiastic, energetic, and optimistic.
The Sun is the single most important planet, because it represents a LEO's
ego and individuality. It shows their ambitions and deepest character
traits, where they have the ability to shine.
Leos are stubborn and impervious to changes not of their own making. They
are however, able to accomplish things in life because of their tenacity in
sticking with projects when others lose patience and stamina. Unfortunately,
stubbornness in the Leo personality is dictated more often than not by their
ego. Attempts to back them into a corner, or demanding that they change
their thinking or behavior will quickly reveal the extent of their
intractable nature. Even when confronted with irrefutable evidence of the
foolhardiness of their ways, Leos can stubbornly cling to bad relationships
and wrong ideas because their egos simply will not allow them to admit being
wrong. However, their tenacity becomes a valuable asset when it is
demonstrated as loyalty to friends, or as patience and determination to
succeed in completing a worthy project. The astrological symbol for Leo is
the Lion. As king of the jungle, this animal represents the regal
disposition of the Leo personality. Their dignity cannot be assailed. If
insulted or abused, they rarely forget the slight unless their detractors
sincerely and humbly request forgiveness. Leos generally have opinions about
everything and not a bit of reluctance in expressing them. They must have
the last word and, as far as most of them are concerned, it is the only one
that counts.
It is easy for pleasure-loving Leos to become addicted to rich food, and as
they get older they find themselves putting on weight. Their gregarious
nature makes it hard to enjoy or stick to boring or solitary physical
fitness routines, but they may not mind dressing up in flashy gym outfits
and joining an exercise class. Dancing, swimming, and tennis are favorite
activities, though they are eager participants in sports of all kinds. When
engaged in team sports, however, they can make too many grandstand plays,
forgetting that they are just part of a team. Arts and crafts, theater
groups, philanthropic societies, and religious organizations attract their
interest and participation.
It isn't always easy to be friends with a Leo. They are best in a one-to-one
friendship where their ego is less likely to intrude upon the relationship.
Leo's can find their most lasting friendships with people born in their own
period or from March 21 to April 19-27 and, strange to say, all those people
who were born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th of any month, for the reason
that these numbers accord and have a sympathetic attraction to the number of
the Sun which is the number of this period. Leo's are usually very patient
and long-suffering, but if once roused, they know no fear and do not even
know when they meet defeat, or acknowledge it when they do.
Leo colors are gold, royal blue, purple, and red. Vulnerable parts of the
body are the back and the heart. Overexertion, heart murmur, and various
types of back pains are the usual Leo complaints. Leo rules gold, and the
birthstone for this sign is the sardonyx. An appropriate representative of
Leo's versatile, creative personality, the intriguing sardonyx is a variety
of agate that exists in many colors and can be cut in many ways. One of the
special ways it is used is in making cameos. Flowers for Leo include the
showy dahlia, yellow lily, poppy (red), marigold, sunflower, and heliotrope.
HEALTH CONCERNS:
Upper back pain, heart irregularities and disease in later life, exhaustion.
For the most part, Leos enjoy good health, and are known for longevity.
STRENGTH: Love
Self-confident, dynamic, dignified, courageous, enthusiastic, benevolent,
powerful, creative, generous, fun-loving, broad-minded.
CHALLENGE: Pride
Extravagant, self-indulgent, conceited, selfish, self-centered, overbearing,
patronizing, a bully.
AFFIRMATION:
I creatively express myself and am appreciated by others.
PROBLEMS THAT MAY ARISE FOR YOU, AND THEIR SOLUTIONS
As with all sun signs, we all have unique traits to our personalities. When
these traits are suppressed, or unrealized, problems will arise. However,
with astrology we can examine the problem and assess the proper solution
based on the sun sign characteristics. As a Leo you may see things below
that really strike home. Try the solution, you most likely will be amazed at
the results. If you find yourself on the receiving end of the negatives
below, it is because you are failing to express the positive.
Problem: Getting all upset and angry with others when things do not
go the way you fully expected them too. This kind of reaction to a problem
is what causes a lot of marital discord and unhappiness.
Solution: You should never base all of your expectations on what you
should get, but rather base them on what you can give to, or do, for those
who are in your sphere of influence. You will find you have a more peaceful
and happy home if you do this.
Problem: You are sometimes your own worst enemy, especially so when
you are striving for attention in such obvious ways that you turn off the
very people you sought to impress.
Solution: The first place to start is to stop trying to gain
attention; give people the chance to notice the real you. Decide what it is
that impresses you and you will then know what to do to impress others.
Problem: Egotism, to the extent that you may be the Leo who thinks no
one is quite as good at things as you are and the people around you are made
to feel small through your habit of comparison.
Solution: What the higher minded Leo has is a sense of self worth and
of greatness, this is corrupted when you let the ego get out of hand so you
should learn to walk tall by looking up to those that are 'taller' than you
are.
Problem: Losses in income from unwisely speculating which leads to
financial ruin, as well as possible personal losses of family and friends
due to a lack of concern for their financial welfare.
Solution: You should always investigate all investments well before
they are made, then talk it over with your spouse as to how hard the budget
can be hit, before you spend the first dime.
